As of the United States census in 2020, the county had a population of 524,118, which was its highest decennial count ever.
This was an increase of 22,892 (+4.6%) from the count of 501,226 in the 2010 census, which was an increase of 12,177 (+2.5%) from the count of 489,049 in the 2000 census.
As of the 2020 Census, the county covered 198.39 square miles (513.8 km2), of which 186.01 square miles (481.8 km2) were land and 12.38 square miles (32.1 km2) were water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
