History
Logan County was formed on September 1, 1792, from Lincoln County, making it the 13th county established in Kentucky. It is named for Benjamin Logan, a Revolutionary War militia officer and early Kentucky statehood leader. South Union, founded in 1807, was home to one of the largest Shaker communities west of the Appalachians before the sect disbanded there in 1922.
