The Consolidated Municipality of Carson City is an independent city and the state capital of Nevada in the United States.
The population was 58,639 as of the 2020 census, ranking it sixth in Nevada.
Today, the city limits include several Sierra Nevada peaks, small portions of the Virginia Range and the Pine Nut Mountains, as well as parts of Marlette Lake and Lake Tahoe.
Snow Valley Peak, at 9,214 feet (2,808 metres), is the highest point within city limits.
Carson City is one of two state capitals that share a border with another state; Trenton, New Jersey is the other.
