Canadian County is a county in the state of Oklahoma, United States.
The population was 154,405, according to the 2020 census, making it Oklahoma’s fourth most populous county.
El Reno is the county seat.
The Canadian River, which forms part of its southern border, inspired the county’s name. The river could have been named after early European explorers who were fur traders and trappers from New France or colonial Canada prior to 1763.
Canadian County is included in the Oklahoma City metro statistical area.
The county has a total area of 906 square miles (2,350 km2), of which 897 square miles (2,320 km2) is land and 9.0 square miles (23 km2) (1.0%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
