Wrexham is a city in Wales and the county borough’s administrative centre.

Its pronunciation is [ˈrɛksəm] (rek-səm), from the Welsh language word for “wrecsam.”

It lies between the mountains of Wales and the lower Dee Valley, close to the English county border with Cheshire.

It used to be in Denbighshire County, but in 1974 it became Clwyd County.

Since 1996, it has been the main town of Wrexham County Borough.

In the past, Wrexham was one of the most important towns in Wales.

The 2021 Census found that 44,785 people lived in cities there.
