Rhondda Cynon Taf is a county borough in the southeast of Wales.
It is pronounced [ˈr̥ɔnða ˈkənɔn ˈtaːv] in Welsh and is also written as Rhondda Cynon Taff.
It has five valleys: Rhondda Fawr, Rhondda Fach, Cynon, Taff (Welsh: Taf), and Ely.
There are also a number of towns and villages that are not in a valley. 19.1% of the 234,410 people who lived in Wales at the time of the 2011 census said they could speak or understand Welsh.
The county borough is surrounded by land on four sides.
To the east are Merthyr Tydfil County Borough and Caerphilly County Borough; to the south are Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan; to the west are Bridgend County Borough and Neath Port Talbot; and to the north are Powys.
