Fife is a council area, historic county, registration county, and lieutenancy area in Scotland.

Its pronunciation in Scottish English is [fɐi̯f], its pronunciation in Scottish Gaelic is [fiːvə], and its spelling in Scots is “Fife.”

It lies between the Firths of Tay and Forth, and shares land borders with Clackmannanshire, Perth and Kinross (which used to be the historic counties of Perthshire and Kinross-shire), and Perth and Kinross.

By tradition, it is thought to have been one of the major Pictish kingdoms. In Scotland, it is still commonly known as the Kingdom of Fife.
