Pemba North Region

Pemba North Region, also known as North Pemba Region (Mkoa wa Pemba Kaskazini in Swahili), is one of Tanzania’s 31 administrative areas.

The region has an area of 574 km2 (222 square miles).

The region is roughly the same size as Saint Lucia’s entire land area.

The administrative region is solely located on the island of Pemba. Pemba North Region is bordered to the north by the Indian Ocean, south by Pemba South Region, and west by the Pemba Channel.

The regional capital is Wete.

According to the 2012 census, the region’s total population is 211,732.
