Njombe Region (or Mkoa wa Njombe in Swahili) is one of Tanzania’s 31 administrative regions. The region has a land area of 21,347 km2 (8,242 square miles).
The region is roughly the same size as El Salvador’s entire geographical area.
The Njombe Region is bordered to the north by the Iringa and Mbeya Regions, to the east by Morogoro Region, to the south by the Ruvuma Region, and to the west by Lake Nyasa.
The municipality of Njombe serves as the regional capital. According to the 2012 national census, the region’s population was 702,097.
