The Mara Region (Mkoa wa Mara in Swahili) is one of Tanzania’s 31 administrative regions. The region has an area of 21,760 km2 (8,400 square miles).
The region is roughly the same size as El Salvador’s entire geographical area.
Mwanza and Simiyu areas are to the south, Arusha Region is to the southeast, and Kagera Region is across Lake Victoria.
