Kigoma Region (or Mkoa wa Kigoma in Swahili) is one of Tanzania’s 31 administrative regions. The city of Kigoma serves as the regional capital.
Kigoma Region shares borders with Kagera, Geita, Katavi, Tabora, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Burundi.
According to the 2012 national census, the region’s population was 2,127,930, exceeding the pre-census prediction of 1,971,332.
