The Lagos–Ikorodu road and the Ikorodu ferry terminal are key transport assets. The town hosts a campus of the University of Lagos and several state-run secondary institutions.

Administrative Divisions

History

Ikorodu was originally settled by migrants from Sagamu in present-day Ogun State, with later additions from Awori and Ijebu Yoruba groups. The town developed as a market hub on the Lagos Lagoon trade route. It became part of Lagos State at the state’s creation in 1967.

Getting There

Ikorodu is connected to Lagos Island by the Lagos–Ikorodu expressway and by ferry across the Lagos Lagoon. The Lagos–Ibadan expressway is accessible to the north via the Ikorodu–Sagamu road.
