Gwandu Towns And Villages
Gwandu is a Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Nigeria, and seat of the historic Gwandu Emirate, one of the two emirates that succeeded the Sokoto Caliphate’s western flank in 1817. The town, also known as Gando, sits on the Zamfara River roughly 25 kilometres northeast of Birnin Kebbi.
The 2006 census counted 151,077 residents; projections put the 2022 figure near 258,100. Gwandu is organised into ten wards: Cheberu/Bada, Dalijan, Dodoru, Gulmare, Gwandu Marafa, Gwandu Sarkin Fawa, Kambaza, Maruda, Malisa and Masama Kwasgara.
