Towns and Villages in Harari Region

The Harari Region (Amharic: ሐረሪ ክልል; Oromo: Naannoo Hararii; Harari: ሀረሪ ሑስኒ), officially the Harari People’s National Regional State (Amharic: የሐረሪ ሕዝብ ብሔራዊ ክልላዊ መንግሥት; Oromo: Mootummaa Naannoo Ummata Hararii; Harari: ዚሀረሪ ኡምመት ሑስኒ ሑኩማ), is a regional state in eastern Ethiopia, covering the homeland of the Harari people.

According to the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia’s (CSA) 2007 Census, Harari has a total population of 183,415, with 92,316 men and 91,099 women.

This is Ethiopia’s sole region where the majority of the population lives in cities: 99,368 people, or 54.18% of the total, reside in cities.

The Harari region has nine numbered woredas. The woredas are:

  1. Amir-Nur Woreda
  2. Abadir Woreda
  3. Shenkor Woreda
  4. Jin’Eala Woreda
  5. Aboker Woreda
  6. Hakim Woreda
  7. Sofi Woreda
  8. Erer Woreda
  9. Dire-Teyara Woreda
