Towns and Villages in Tembaro Special Woreda

Tembaro Special Woreda (Amharic: ጠምባሮ ልዩ ወረዳ) is part of the Central Ethiopia Regional State in Ethiopia.

Tembaro is bordered by the Dawro Zone to the south, the Hadiya Zone to the north, Hadiya and Dawro to the west, Hadero Tunto to the east, and the Wolayita Zone to the southeast.

Tembaro’s towns include Mudula, Keleta, Ambukuna, and Hodo. Tembaro Special Woreda was once known as Omo Sheleko Woreda.

Tembaro Special Woreda will become a special woreda on August 19, 2023, when the previous Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region is reformed into the new Central Ethiopia Regional State. Today is a historical day for the Tembaro people.

According to the CSA’s 2007 Census, this woreda has a total population of 480,573, with 235,334 men and 245,239 women; 45,615 people, or 7.21%, live in cities.

The majority of the population was Protestant, with 77.69% identifying as such. 14.9% practiced Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, 3.36% were Catholic, 2.07% were Muslim, and 1.17% held traditional beliefs.
