Towns and Localities Today

Camperdown, on the county’s eastern side near Lake Bullen Merri, is the largest town and a Corangamite Shire service centre. Cobden serves the dairying district to the south, and Timboon anchors the Heytesbury’s rainforest-fringed south-west corner.

Heytesbury sits between the Gellibrand River to the east and the Hopkins River to the west, with Bass Strait forming its southern edge. Its northern boundary roughly follows the modern Princes Highway. It borders Villiers, Hampden and Grenville to the north and Polwarth to the east.
