Oye Towns And Villages

Oye is a Local Government Area in Ekiti State, Nigeria, with its seat at Oye-Ekiti. The LGA was carved out of the old Ekiti North LGA on 17 May 1989. It borders Ilejemeje to the north, Irepodun/Ifelodun to the south, Ikole to the east and Ido/Osi to the west.

The 2006 census counted 137,796 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 206,300. Oye holds 12 wards, grouped around the towns of Oye, Ayegbaju, Ayede, Itaji, Ire, Isan, Ilafon, Ilemeso, Ijelu and Omu Odo. Residents are Ekiti Yoruba and speak the Ekiti dialect.

Two entries carried over from the old post — “Imesi Ekiti” and “Ode Ekiti” district content — turned out to belong to neighbouring Gbonyin LGA and were removed.
