Gbonyin Towns And Villages

Gbonyin, officially named Aiyekire in Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, is a Local Government Area in Ekiti State with its headquarters at Ode-Ekiti. It sits in the state’s northeast, bordering Ise/Emure, Ekiti East, Ikole, Irepodun/Ifelodun and Ado Ekiti within Ekiti State, and Akoko North-West across the state line in Ondo.

The 2006 census counted 147,999 residents. The LGA covers roughly 378 square kilometres and centres near 7.61°N, 5.50°E. Its eight major towns are Ode Ekiti, Agbado Ekiti, Imesi Ekiti, Aisegba Ekiti, Egbe Ekiti, Ijan Ekiti, Iluomoba Ekiti and Iro Ekiti, home to a predominantly Yoruba-speaking population.
