Badagry lies on Nigeria’s south-west coast, near the Gulf of Guinea. It’s 69 kilometres southwest of Lagos and 23 km east of Seme, Benin Republic. Like Lagos Island, it’s on inland lagoons and streams that are accessible to Lagos and Porto Novo. Badagry’s lagoon is a mile from the ocean. Seasonally, the lagoon’s depth ranges from 3 to 1 metres. Lagoons have bonga, croaker, pompano, tilapia, and catfish. West of Badagry, Yewa River feeds the lagoon with brackish and freshwater.
