Orumba North Towns And Villages
Orumba North is a Local Government Area in Anambra State’s Anambra South senatorial zone, split from the old Orumba LGA in 1991. Its headquarters sits at Ajalli. The area covers about 320.6 square kilometres.
The 2006 census counted 172,773 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 246,200. Orumba North holds 18 wards: Ajalli I, Ajalli II, Amaetiti, Amaokpala/Omogho, Awa, Awgbu I, Awgbu II, Nanka I, Nanka II, Ndikelionwu, Ndiokolo/Ndiokpaleke, Ndiowu, Ndiukwuenu/Okpeze, Oko I, Oko II, Ndi Okpalaeze, Ufuma I and Ufuma II.
Farming and trade sustain the Igbo communities across the LGA’s market towns. Nanka is known nationally for its erosion gullies, and Oko for the Federal Polytechnic. Orumba North borders Aguata and Awka South to the west and north, and Orumba South, its sister LGA, to the south.
