Dunukofia Towns And Villages

Dunukofia is a Local Government Area in Anambra State, Nigeria, centred on Ukpo, its headquarters town. The area covers about 75 square kilometres in Anambra Central senatorial district.

The 2006 census counted 96,517 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 137,500. Dunukofia holds seven main towns — Akwa, Ifitedunu, Nawgu, Ukpo, Ukwulu, Umudioka and Umunnachi — grouped into fourteen INEC wards. It borders Awka North, Idemili North, Njikoka and Oyi.

Farming (yam, cassava, rice, maize) and local trade drive the economy; Afor Igwe market in Umudioka is among the area’s busiest.
