Ika Towns And Villages
Ika is a Local Government Area in the Annang-speaking part of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Its council seat sits at Urua Inyang. The area covers about 116 square kilometres.
The 2006 census counted 72,772 residents. Projections put the 2022 figure near 92,900. Ika holds ten wards: Urban I, Urban II, Achan Ika, Achan II, Achan III, Ito I, Ito II, Ito III, Odoro I and Odoro II.
Annang farmers and traders make up most of the population, working the LGA’s oil-palm and cassava plots. Villages across the LGA share one cultural display, a masquerade dance called Akakum, nicknamed Afum after the wind.
