Michika Towns And Villages
Michika (Mwe-cika) is a town and the administrative centre of the Michika Local Government Area in the Nigerian state of Adamawa.
It is situated right over the border from the popular tourist destination of Mcedigyi in vecemwe Rhumsiki, Cameroon, in Northern Adamawa State. Mwe-cika (Michika) is the fourth most populous municipality in Adamawa State.

Kamwe is Michika’s main ethnic group and language.
Michika was incorporated in 1976.
[3] East of it is Cameroon. Madagali local government is on its northern border, while Borno’s Askira/Uba is to its west.
Mubi North and Hong are to the south.
Michika is a distorted variant of the Kamwe term “Mwe-che ci-ka” Oral tradition says Kwada Kwakaa, a Prince and hunter, created Michika (Mwecika) in the 15th century. [4]
“Mwe che ci ka ra Kwada Kwakaa” means “hills where Kwada Kwakaa quietly hunts,” according to Kamwe historians and elders. Mwecika(Michika) is abbreviated from “Mwe che ci ka”[3].
Kanuri monarch Idris Alooma mentioned Mwecika and the Kamwe in his odyssey.
[5] Heinrich Barth, a German explorer, reported in 1850’s “Travels in Africa” of the Michika Kamwe’s courage.
Ngida Zakawa Kwache is Michika’s District Head. He was elected by the “kingmakers” on December 31, 2013, when Coffor Maude, the district leader for 50 years, died. [8] His Royal Highness Chief Ngida Zakawa Kwache chairs the Michika District Heads Council.
Adamawa’s most populous municipality is Michika. Michika is cosmopolitan, with several bank branches, a college of health and technology, and many secondary schools. Michika’s oldest and most popular secondary school is G.S.S. Michika. 98% of the population is Christian, with the rest Muslims and traditionalists. [9] Mountains have 26 chiefdoms and 84 settlements. [10] Michika’s population estimates range from 375,000 to 700,000 depending on the census and its methodology.
Michika’s Kamwe celebrate various cultural events. Yawale, Wasinata, Ngarba, and Zhitta are popular festivals. Michika has tourist spots such Kwandree cool spring water at Dlaka and Kamale peak at Kamale.
