Snohomish County is a county in Washington, United States, immediately north of Seattle along Puget Sound. It had a population of 827,957 at the 2020 census, an estimated 870,656 by 2025, and covers 2,087 square miles (5,410 km2) of land centred near 48\u00b002\u2032N 121\u00b043\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Everett is the county seat and its only true urban center; its postal code is 98201. The county holds 18 cities, 2 incorporated towns and a scatter of unincorporated communities across no civil townships — Washington abolished township government decades ago — and it runs on Pacific Time. Its FIPS code is 53061.<\/p>\n

Snohomish County has 20 incorporated places: 18 cities and 2 towns (Darrington and Index). Everett, the seat, anchors the county’s south-central waterfront; the rest cluster along I-5 and the Cascade foothills to the east. CDP means census-designated place, an unincorporated community the Census Bureau tracks but that has no city government.<\/p>\n

Bothell straddles the King–Snohomish line — most of its 48,161 residents live in King County, with only the northern wedge in Snohomish, so treat the citywide figure as an outer bound for the Snohomish share. Everett, the seat, is unrelated to the many other “Everett” place names nationally; there is no second Everett in Washington to confuse it with.<\/p>\n

Beyond the 20 incorporated places, several unincorporated CDPs outgrew the towns around them. Silver Firs (22,174), east of Mill Creek, and Maltby (11,277) and Alderwood Manor (10,198), both near Bothell and Lynnwood, are each larger than most of the county’s incorporated towns but have no city government of their own.<\/p>\n
