Stafford County is a county in Virginia, United States, on the Rappahannock River across from the city of Fredericksburg. It had a population of 156,927 at the 2020 census and covers 280 square miles (730 km2) centred near 38\u00b025\u2032N 77\u00b027\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Stafford Courthouse, usually called Stafford, is the county seat, and its postal code is 22554. The county has no incorporated cities or towns; it is organised instead into seven census-designated places and a larger number of unincorporated communities. Stafford County sits in the Eastern time zone.<\/p>\n

Quantico Base is part of the Marine Corps Base Quantico, which straddles the Stafford\u2013Prince William county line; only the Stafford County portion is counted here. Ferry Farm, George Washington’s boyhood home, sits within the Falmouth CDP rather than as a separate place.<\/p>\n
