Loudoun is a county in Virginia, United States, about 30 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. Its median household income, roughly $172,000 in the latest American Community Survey estimate, is the highest of any county in the United States — nearly double Virginia’s statewide figure. It had a population of 420,959 at the 2020 census, an estimated 447,800 by 2024, and covers 516 square miles (1,336 km2) of land centred near 39\u00b008\u2032N 77\u00b038\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Leesburg is the county seat; its postal code is 20176. The county holds 7 incorporated towns and dozens of unincorporated communities and census-designated places, and it runs on Eastern Time. Its FIPS code is 51107.<\/p>\n

Ashburn and Sterling are the two most confused pairs on the map: both sit along the Dulles Toll Road corridor and their ZIP codes overlap (20165 covers parts of both), but they are separate CDPs with separate community associations. Waterford, a National Historic Landmark village near Lovettsville, has no incorporated status and no ZIP of its own — mail there runs through Waterford’s own historic post office under 20197, one of the few rural fourth-class offices left in the county.<\/p>\n
