James City County is a county in Virginia, United States, on the Virginia Peninsula between the James and York rivers. It had a population of 78,254 at the 2020 census and covers 179 square miles (460 km2) centred near 37\u00b019\u2032N 76\u00b046\u2032W.<\/p>\n
Williamsburg, an independent city legally separate from the county, is the county seat, and its postal code is 23185. The county has no incorporated towns of its own \u2014 its population lives across a handful of census-designated places and dozens of unincorporated subdivisions, plus the historic site of Jamestown. It sits in the Eastern time zone and carries FIPS code 51095.<\/p>\n
