Wayne County is a county in Utah, United States, in the south-central part of the state, straddling the canyon country around Capitol Reef National Park. It had a population of 2,486 at the 2020 census and covers 2,466 square miles (6,386 km2), of which 2,461 square miles (6,370 km2) is land and 5.8 square miles (15 km2) is water, centred near 38\u00b022\u2032N 111\u00b004\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Loa is the county seat, and its postal code is 84747. The county has five incorporated towns, two census-designated places and four unincorporated communities. Wayne County sits in the Mountain Time Zone and carries FIPS code 49055.<\/p>\n

Fruita is a historic Mormon orchard settlement now entirely inside Capitol Reef National Park, kept up by the National Park Service rather than a resident population. Caineville, Grover and Notom are working ranch and farm communities strung along Highway 24 and the Notom-Bullfrog road.<\/p>\n
