Sherman County is a county in Texas, United States, on the northern edge of the Texas Panhandle along the Oklahoma line. It had a population of 2,782 people at the 2020 census and covers 923 square miles (2,390 km2) of land, centred near 36\u00b017\u2032N 101\u00b053\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Stratford is the county seat, and its postal code is 79084. The county has one incorporated city (Stratford) and a share of the divided border town of Texhoma, plus a scatter of unincorporated rail-line places. It sits in the Central time zone, and its FIPS code is 48421.<\/p>\n

Sherman County is lightly settled — Stratford holds nearly all of the county’s population, and the Texas side of Texhoma is little more than a residential fringe of the Oklahoma town across the state line.
