Potter County is a county in Texas, United States, on the Texas Panhandle’s Llano Estacado escarpment. It had a population of 118,525 at the 2020 census and covers 922 square miles (2,390 km2), centred near 35\u00b024\u2032N 101\u00b053\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Amarillo is the county seat, and its downtown postal code is 79101. The county has one incorporated city, one incorporated town and one shared census-designated place, plus a handful of unincorporated communities and former rail sidings. Potter County observes Central time and carries FIPS code 48375.<\/p>\n

Amarillo dominates the county both in population and land area; the rest of Potter County is open ranchland and a scatter of small unincorporated places, several of them former railroad section stops that never grew past a grain elevator and a few houses. Bushland straddles the Potter–Randall county line; its post office and the bulk of its households sit on the Randall County side, though the CDP boundary extends into Potter.
