Mitchell County is a county in Texas, United States, on the Colorado River in the west-central part of the state. It had a population of 8,990 at the 2020 census and covers 916 square miles (2,370 km2) centred near 32°18′N 100°55′W.<\/p>\n

Colorado City is the county seat, and its postal code is 79512. Mitchell County has three incorporated places — Colorado City, Loraine and Westbrook — plus several unincorporated communities. The county sits in the Central time zone and carries FIPS code 48335.<\/p>\n
