Gillespie County is a county in Texas, United States, on the Edwards Plateau in the Texas Hill Country. It had a population of 26,725 at the 2020 census and covers 1,062 square miles (2,750 km2), of which 1,058 square miles is land and 3.5 square miles is water, centred near 30\u00b017\u2032N 98\u00b054\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Fredericksburg is the county seat and its postal code is 78624. The county has one incorporated city and about a dozen unincorporated communities, no civil townships, and sits entirely in the Central time zone (FIPS code 48171).<\/p>\n

Luckenbach, southeast of Fredericksburg, is the best known of the crossroads communities — a general store, dance hall and bar that has drawn musicians and day-trippers since the 1970s. It has no post office of its own and is served by the Fredericksburg ZIP.<\/p>\n
