Fisher County is a county in Texas, United States, on the eastern edge of the Rolling Plains between Abilene and the Big Country. It had a population of 3,672 people at the 2020 census and covers 899 square miles (2,330 km2) of land, centred near 32\u00b044\u2032N 100\u00b024\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Roby is the county seat and its postal code is 79543. The county has three incorporated cities, two census-designated places and a handful of unincorporated communities. Fisher County sits in the Central time zone and carries FIPS code 48151.<\/p>\n

Hamlin is chartered as a city of Jones County, but its municipal boundary crosses into northeastern Fisher County, so the county lists it among its towns even though most of its population and services sit across the line. Longworth, an unincorporated crossroads community, is on record as the birthplace of professional poker player Doyle Brunson. Two more names sometimes appear on older county lists — North Roby and Royston — but both are abandoned townsites with no remaining population and are not counted as active communities here.<\/p>\n
