Baylor County is a county in Texas, United States, on the Red Beds prairie of the Rolling Plains, roughly midway between Wichita Falls and Abilene. It had a population of 3,465 at the 2020 census and covers 901 square miles (2,330 km2), of which 34 square miles (88 km2) is water, centred near 33\u00b038\u2032N 99\u00b013\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Seymour is the county seat and the county’s only incorporated city; its postal code is 76380. The county has one incorporated city and a handful of small unincorporated communities, no other formal towns, and sits in the Central time zone. The FIPS county code is 48023.<\/p>\n

Baylor County has one incorporated city, Seymour, and several unincorporated communities scattered across the ranching and farm country to its north, west and south. Most of the unincorporated places are little more than a church, a cemetery and a few houses today; several were once cotton-shipping stops on the Wichita Valley Railway.
