Obion County is a county in Tennessee, United States, occupying the state’s far northwest corner along the Kentucky line. It had a population of 30,787 at the 2020 census and covers 556 square miles (1,440 km2) of land and water, centred near 36\u00b022\u2032N 89\u00b009\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Union City is the county seat, and its postal code is 38261. The county holds three incorporated cities, seven incorporated towns, and a handful of unincorporated communities; there are no civil townships here, since Tennessee counties are not subdivided that way. The county sits in the Central time zone.<\/p>\n

Obion County has ten incorporated places \u2014 three cities and seven towns \u2014 plus a scatter of small unincorporated crossroads communities carried over from historical gazetteers. Two of the towns, Kenton and Trimble, straddle the county line with Gibson and Dyer counties respectively; both are counted here because part of each lies in Obion. "Unincorp." below marks a community with no municipal government of its own.<\/p>\n

Kenton’s town limits reach into neighboring Gibson County, but its post office and the bulk of its residents sit on the Obion County side. Trimble is smaller still and split with Dyer County to the south \u2014 the Obion portion is the older townsite around the depot.<\/p>\n
