Davidson County is a county in Tennessee, United States, at the heart of Middle Tennessee along the Cumberland River. It had a population of 715,884 at the 2020 census, making it Tennessee’s second-most populous county, and covers 526 square miles (1,360 km2) centred near 36°10′N 86°47′W.<\/p>\n
Nashville is the county seat, and its downtown postal code is 37201. Since 1963 Nashville and Davidson County have shared a consolidated city-county government, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County — so most of the county is legally part of the city itself. Six older cities opted out of that merger and remain separately incorporated inside the county: Belle Meade, Berry Hill, Forest Hills, Oak Hill, Goodlettsville (mostly in Sumner County) and Ridgetop (mostly in Robertson County).
