Union County is a county in South Dakota, United States, tucked into the state’s southeastern corner where the Big Sioux and Missouri rivers meet the Iowa and Nebraska state lines. It had a population of 16,811 at the 2020 census and covers 467 square miles (1,210 km2) centred near 42°50′N 96°39′W.<\/p>\n

Elk Point is the county seat, and its postal code is 57025. The county has five incorporated cities and towns, several unincorporated communities and census-designated places, and sits in the Central time zone.<\/p>\n
