Butte County is a county in South Dakota, United States, on the state’s western edge along the Wyoming and Montana lines. It had a population of 10,243 at the 2020 census and covers 2,266 square miles (5,870 km2) centred near 44°55′N 103°29′W.<\/p>\n

Belle Fourche is the county seat, and its postal code is 57717. The county has two incorporated cities, two incorporated towns, and several unincorporated communities. Butte County observes Mountain time and has no civil townships.<\/p>\n
