Edgefield County is a county in South Carolina, United States, on the Savannah River across from Georgia, in the western part of the state. It had a population of 25,657 at the 2020 census and covers 507.00 square miles (1,313.1 km2), of which 500.71 square miles (1,296.8 km2) is land, centred near 33°47′N 81°58′W.<\/p>\n

Edgefield is the county seat, and its postal code is 29824. The county has three incorporated municipalities (Edgefield, Johnston and Trenton), one census-designated place, and roughly two dozen unincorporated crossroads communities. Edgefield County has no civil townships. It sits in the Eastern time zone and carries FIPS code 45037.<\/p>\n
