Dorchester County is a county in South Carolina, United States, part of the Charleston metropolitan area in the state’s Lowcountry. It had a population of 161,540 at the 2020 census and covers 571 square miles (1,479 km2) centred near 33°05′N 80°24′W.<\/p>\n
St. George is the county seat, and its postal code is 29477. The county contains six incorporated municipalities — St. George, Summerville, North Charleston, Ridgeville, Harleyville and Reevesville, three of them shared with neighboring counties — plus well over a hundred unincorporated communities.
