Centre County is a county in Pennsylvania, United States, about 90 miles north-northwest of Harrisburg, built around State College and Pennsylvania State University’s main campus. It had a population of 158,172 at the 2020 census, an estimated 157,393 by 2025, and covers 1,110 square miles (2,875 km2) of land centred near 40°55′N 77°49′W.<\/p>\n

Bellefonte is the county seat; its postal code is 16823. The county holds 10 boroughs and 25 townships, plus a scatter of unincorporated communities and census-designated places, and it runs on Eastern Time. Its FIPS code is 42027.<\/p>\n

Stormstown last reported 2,366 residents at the 2010 census; a separate 2020 figure for the CDP was not published. Unionville, a nineteenth-century lumber-camp borough, held 291 residents in 2010 and an estimated 289 in 2019, but has no confirmed 2020 count. The county’s old place list also carried well over a hundred names — Butts, Casanova, Struble, Kato and similar — that are historical hamlet, rail-siding or landmark names rather than Census-recognized boroughs or CDPs; this page lists only places the Census Bureau separately counts, rather than inventing population or ZIP data for the rest.<\/p>\n
