Beaver County is a county in Pennsylvania, United States, about 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. It had a population of 168,215 at the 2020 census, an estimated 166,032 by 2025, and covers 444 square miles, 435 of them land (1,130 km2), centred near 40\u00b041\u2032N 80\u00b021\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Beaver is the county seat; its postal code is 15009. The county holds 2 cities, 30 boroughs and 22 townships — 54 municipalities in all, one of them shared with a neighbouring county — and it runs on Eastern Time. Its FIPS code is 42007.<\/p>\n

Several names on this list are easy to confuse. Beaver, Beaver Falls and Big Beaver are three separate municipalities several miles apart along the Beaver River. Darlington borough sits inside the ring of Darlington Township, and Rochester borough is likewise distinct from Rochester Township next door. Ellwood City straddles the county line: most of the borough lies in Lawrence County, and only 606 of its residents live on the Beaver County side. Economy borough, despite the name, is not the historic Harmony Society settlement of Economy — that site, Old Economy Village, is inside present-day Ambridge. Unincorporated communities such as Byersdale, Cannelton, Fombell, Gringo, Harshaville, Kobuta, Unionville and West Aliquippa are localities within the townships, not municipalities.<\/p>\n

The 22 townships fill the rest of the county and hold just over half of its people. Suburban Hopewell, Center, Brighton and Chippewa are the most populous municipalities in the county after Aliquippa and Beaver Falls’s urban core.<\/p>\n
