Guilford County is a county in North Carolina, United States, about 80 miles west of Raleigh in the Piedmont Triad. It had a population of 541,299 at the 2020 census, an estimated 562,234 by 2025, and covers 657.63 square miles (1,703.3 km2) centred near 36\u00b005\u2032N 79\u00b047\u2032W. Only Wake and Mecklenburg counties have more people.<\/p>\n

Greensboro is the county seat and the county’s largest city; its postal code is 27401. High Point, the second city, has held its own county courthouse since 1938, so Guilford runs two court seats. The county holds 13 incorporated cities and towns in whole or in part, plus 2 census-designated places and 5 unincorporated communities, and it runs on Eastern Time. Its FIPS code is 37081.<\/p>\n

Several figures above are citywide and cross county lines. Burlington sits almost entirely in Alamance County and Kernersville in Forsyth County; each reaches only an annexed edge into Guilford. Archdale is mostly a Randolph County city extending north into Guilford. Going the other way, High Point spills from Guilford into Randolph, Davidson and Forsyth counties, Gibsonville straddles the Alamance line, and Stokesdale touches Rockingham, Forsyth and Stokes counties where the four meet. Climax sits on the Randolph line. The old version of this page also listed dozens of Greensboro neighbourhoods — Fisher Park, Irving Park, Sunset Hills and the like — as if they were separate towns; they are city districts and have been removed.<\/p>\n
