Nicollet County is a county in Minnesota, United States, along the south bank of the Minnesota River in the south-central part of the state. It had a population of 34,454 at the 2020 census and covers 467 square miles (1,210 km2), of which 448 square miles (1,160 km2) are land and 18 square miles (47 km2) are water, centred near 44°16′N 94°12′W.<\/p>\n
St. Peter is the county seat, and its postal code is 56082. The county has six incorporated cities (two of them shared with neighboring Blue Earth County), eight unincorporated communities, and thirteen organized townships. Nicollet County sits in the Central time zone and forms part of the Mankato–North Mankato metropolitan statistical area.<\/p>\n
Nicollet County’s populated places split between incorporated cities along the Minnesota River valley and a scatter of unincorporated crossroads communities and abandoned rail-line townsites in the surrounding farm townships.
