Mecosta County is a county in Michigan, United States, home to Ferris State University and the Muskegon River town of Big Rapids. It had a population of 39,714 at the 2020 census and covers 571 square miles (1,481 km2) centred near 43\u00b038\u2032N 85\u00b019\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Big Rapids is the county seat, and its postal code is 49307. The county has one city, four villages, and a mix of unincorporated communities spread across 16 civil townships. Mecosta County sits in the Eastern time zone and carries FIPS code 26107.<\/p>\n

Paris shows up twice on some older lists \u2014 it is a single unincorporated community north of Big Rapids on US 131, not two separate places. Canadian Lakes, a large gated resort community, straddles the Morton and Austin township line; most of its addresses use the Stanwood ZIP code.<\/p>\n
