Gogebic County is a county in Michigan, United States, the westernmost county in the state’s Upper Peninsula. It had a population of 14,380 at the 2020 census and covers 1,102 square miles (2,850 km2) of land centred near 46\u00b029\u2032N 89\u00b047\u2032W, with an additional 374 square miles (970 km2) of water — a quarter of its total area.<\/p>\n

Bessemer is the county seat, and its postal code is 49911. The county has three cities, one charter township, four other civil townships, three census-designated places, and a scatter of unincorporated communities. Gogebic County is one of only four Michigan counties that observe Central time rather than Eastern.<\/p>\n

Ironwood and neighbouring North Ironwood, along with Bessemer and North Bessemer, are frequently confused as single places on older maps — both pairs are in fact one city with an informal north-side neighbourhood, not separate settlements, so only the incorporated city is listed above. Watersmeet sits at the far eastern edge of the county, closer in practice to Iron County than to Bessemer.<\/p>\n
