Baraga County is a county in Michigan, United States, on the shore of Lake Superior at the base of the Keweenaw Peninsula. It had a population of 8,158 at the 2020 census and covers 1,069 square miles (2,770 km2), of which 898 square miles (2,330 km2) are land and 171 square miles (440 km2) are water — centred near 46°43′N 88°20′W.<\/p>\n

L’Anse is the county seat, and its postal code is 49946. The county has two incorporated villages, five census-designated places and roughly 18 unincorporated communities, spread across five civil townships. Baraga County runs on Eastern Time.<\/p>\n

The old page’s duplicate rows — Covington, Pelkie, Skanee and Three Lakes each appeared twice, and a stray “LAnse MH Court” and a second “LAnse” line duplicated the county seat — were merged into single entries. Zeba appears both as a CDP and, in some Bureau of Indian Affairs references, as a nearby unincorporated place inside the L’Anse Indian Reservation; the two rows above reflect that a settlement and its surrounding CDP boundary can carry the same name.<\/p>\n
