St. John the Baptist Parish is a parish in Louisiana, United States, on the east and west banks of the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. It had a population of 42,477 at the 2020 census and covers 348 square miles (900 km2), of which 213 square miles are land and 135 square miles are water, centred near 30\u00b007\u2032N 90\u00b030\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Edgard is the parish seat and its postal code is 70049. The parish has no incorporated towns or cities — all of its communities are unincorporated, including six census-designated places. St. John the Baptist Parish is part of the New Orleans–Metairie metropolitan statistical area and runs on Central Time.<\/p>\n
