Haines Borough is a home-rule borough in Alaska, United States, at the head of the Lynn Canal where the Chilkat and Chilkoot valleys meet tidewater. It had a population of 2,080 at the 2020 census and covers 2,319 square miles (6,010 km2) of land, centred near 59\u00b010\u2032N 135\u00b026\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Haines is the borough seat (Alaska boroughs’ equivalent of a county seat); its postal code is 99827. The borough has six census-designated communities and no incorporated cities or towns, sits in the Alaska Time Zone (UTC−9, UTC−8 during daylight saving), and has no road link to the rest of the Alaska highway system except through Canada.<\/p>\n
