Barton County is a county in Kansas, United States, in the central part of the state along the Arkansas River’s Great Bend. It had a population of 25,493 at the 2020 census and covers 895 square miles (2,320 km2) of land centred near 38°28′N 98°46′W.<\/p>\n
Great Bend is the county seat, and its postal code is 67530. The county has five incorporated cities, several unincorporated communities, and lies in the Central time zone. Its FIPS code is 20009. It is the only county in Kansas named for a woman — Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross.<\/p>\n
